What is a digipak?

We have now started to to look in to digipak, I believe that the digipak should be consistent with the video so it should be in black, grey and white. The idea we have in mind for the front cover is the girl either in normal make up or clown make, the inside of the digipak will probably show the woods as this plays a main part of our video.

A digipak is either has four or six section that will either fold over one or in two places. Usually in a digipak there is a plastic tray holder which holds the CD, the outer packaging is plastic with the images on paper inside the plastic. In addition the back cover of the digipak must show the album track list and manufacturer. Artists use digipaks to sell there albums, it must capture potential buyers attention and encourage them to buy the album.

Editing Animatic

After we have made our storyboard we had to make it in to an animatic. We did this by scanning the image in so that they were on the computer and the put them in to final cut to make a video out of them. As they were just still images we could decided how long we wanted each shot to be.

Filming

Next time we filmed, we decided to film the face section at the beginning of the song. As the girl switches between the clown face and her own, we filmed just the faces of some people in our school against a white background and then filmed them with a painted clown face on. This did look quite effective when we were filming it, but when upload it we could see that the camera had moved when we were filming it so when editing it with quite cuts it did not look as effective, therefore we need to go back and film again but keeping the camera still.

Also on this day we filmed a rose that the petals were falling off. I have seen this in videos before and it always seems to work well within the videos. As we were filming this we had to work out how a way to pull the petals off but it look like they are falling off. We thought we could do this with quick cuts and have several shots each time with another petal not there. When we uploaded the sequence it seem to be a bit far away, but we could crop the size of the shot. Therefore when was are editing we need to play around with the size.

Website research

Here is a montuage of websites I have looked at they all have many on the feature that I want to use in our website.

Digi pak Covers

For our ancillary task we need to make a digipak cover for the band we are doing our music video on. After doing research in to what digipaks are, i decided to do a mood board of different album cover. I found that most of the album covers show the artist face or are animated. The font on the cover are usually quite small and are in black or white.

Creating the characters

As our music video is based around the girl and her changing in to and from a clown. We have three different locations in our music video the main location is the woods, where we set the scene by the girl wearing normal clothes as this is her first encounter with the clown. The clown is another main character in our music video. As a group we decided that the clown should be in all black so the clown face will stand out more and the audience will be drawn to it.

Our second location is London, where we are going filmed the girl at night on the millennium bridge where she had normal make up on and smudged make up. we have decided that there need to be long shots and close ups. In addition we are going to speed them up.

The final location is the bathroom at our school this is where the girl is putting on make up with her friend and she changes from normal make up into clown make up.

Target audience

Our song choice will change out target audience, as we are using 'I Can Talk' from Two Door Cinema Club so our target audience will be people who are in to alternative, indie, electropop music. Also the song could be used as a dance song as it has an electro beat to it. As a group we have decided to look at the source how is currently promoting them this is NME. NME has a target audience of men aged between 17 and 30, but looking at their statistics the average age of the reader is 25 and 73%of their readers are male and 27% of their readers are female. From looking at these statistics we are going to aim our video, digipak and website at 17 to 30 year old males.

I also I used a website call UK Tribes to look at at the sections that our music video will be in.
